“The beauty of Fuchun captivates the world and the time.” Fuyang, named Fuchun in ancient times, was established as county in BC221 and transformed from county to city in 1994. Now, it has been transformed into a district in 2015 as the youngest “ninth district” of Hangzhou.

    This is a landscape city. Inspired by the elegant Fuchun scenery, a famous artist in the Yuan Dynasty, drew his masterpiece Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains. Nowadays, in order to practice the “Theory of Two Mountains” raised by the General Secretary XI, Fuyang has strengthened the enforcement of environmental improvement, spares no effort to carry out “A Total of Five Water Treatment”, “Renovation of Old Residential Areas, Plant Areas and Villages in the City and Demolition of Illegal Construction”, “Neatness, Virescence and Beautification of the Sides of the Roads, Railways, Rivers and Mountains” and the “Two Sides of the Roads and the Railways” projects, so as to build Fuyang into a “new scroll painting of Dwelling in the Fuchun Mountains” which possesses historical inheritance, natural beauty and modern features.

    Establishing “No black GDP in beautiful Fuyang” as the principle, Fuyang has integrated and closed the paper-making industry which we relied for existence in the past. Although this lowers the GDP growth, the water quality of Fuchun River has been improved from “unqualified” to “excellent”.

    Besides, Fuyang adheres the theory of “Possessing the beauty of the countryside and the convenience of the city at the same time” to enhance the comprehensive construction of “beautiful countryside” with “the taste of Zhejiang” and remodel the beauty and life of the countryside.

    This is also a “smart city”. Next to the main urban area of Hangzhou, Fuyang takes the advantage of “transforming city into district” to enter the “fast lane” of “smart economy”. The “Silicon Valley Town” of Fuyang has been included on the list of the first batch of 37 province-level featured towns. The “Silicon Valley Town” covers an area of 3.8km2. Although it is not a large town, key industries such as optical communication, information technology, industrial design and cultural and creative industry have made it the “engine” of the development of Fuyang’s smart economy. At present, the “Silicon Valley Town” has successfully introduced many smart industry heavyweights such as the China Smart Sports Industrial Base, Tian’an • Fuchun Silicon Valley, Insigma, Silver Lake Innovation Center, iValley, Sunhoo Industrial Design. The total investment has exceeded 12 billion yuan, showing an unstoppable clustered and concentrated growth momentum of smart industry.

    The G20 Summit will be held in Hangzhou next year. Although not being the core area, Fuyang will not be a “bystander”. Instead, Fuyang will promote its industrial level with all strength, comprehensively improve regional environment and position itself as “smart city with beautiful landscape and new urban blue sea” to realize the transformation from “rising industrial area” to “flourishing industrial area”. Meanwhile, foreign guests will be able to appreciate the beauty of landscape, humanity, city and countryside as well as industries here in Fuyang.
