本期内容——唐代的茶文化
到了唐代，由于政治、经济、文化的繁荣，社会生产力的提高，大大促进了茶叶的生产贸易。同时，随着佛教禅宗的兴盛和影响，饮茶风由南方迅速扩展到了北方，从而形成了全国性的饮茶规模。世界上的第一本茶书就在唐代完成，茶叶也在唐代时期大量传播到了中国以外的地区。

In the Tang dynasty, from 600s to 900s, tea drinking as a custom was well established in China. A great number of tea plantations were set up by the royal court and the Buddhism temples.
The way of tea production and drinking was much more delicate in Tang. Tea was made into the form of teacakes by steaming, pounding, molding, baking and stringing. Teacake was ground into powder by a grinder, put into a pot, and boiled with different seasonings such as salt.
Tea Classic（茶经）
In the 8th century, a scholar named Lu Yu decided to write a book on tea. This first tea book in the world tea classic became an encyclopedia for every tea drinker in China until now, and Lu Yu is revered as the Sage of tea.
The book talked about almost every aspect of tea, from its origin to the tasting and ceremony of tea. In the book, Lu Yu argued that tea should be drunk by itself so that the true flavor of the tea could be tasted. Today, people in China still follow his teaching.
Spread of tea into Japan and Korea

Tang dynasty is also the first time tea was introduced into Japan and Korea. When Buddhism monks and official students travelled and studied in China, they got to know the tea and tea culture in temples and brought it back to their homeland. Chinese tea began to be known among the people in east Asia.
