Did the photographer copy the birds in the painting? Welcome to Insight of Hangzhou, we are currently at the Zhejiang Provincial Museum. There is a once-in-a-millennium exhibition that is called "Nature in Chinese Art:The birds in Song Dynasty Paintings of the 10-13th centuries",which is also the 95th anniversary exhibition of Zhejiang Provincial Museum.

Why is it held only once in a thousand years? The answer comes from the exhibition hall behind me. The hall gathers 15 Song Dynasty paintings from 8 domestic and foreign institutions, including National Museum of China, the Palace Museum, and the Cleveland Museum of Art in the United States. This is so far the most concentrated display of Song Dynasty flower and bird paintings.

The 15 flower and bird paintings that have gone through over 800 years are waiting quietly for the audience.

The "Hundred Flowers" painting, selected from the Palace Museum, depicts over 60 types of flowers and trees, as well as more than 20 types of birds, insects, and fish.

In Hangzhou, even the exhibitions of ancient art are also equipped with technology! Large scale 3D animations, immersive cinema, and XR augmented reality technology bring birds from still paintings to life.

This exhibition presents Song Dynasty flower and bird paintings in a highly detailed and innovative way.

What we can see from these paintings is not only how realistic the flower and bird are, but also the ultimate pursuit of truth by people in the Song Dynasty.
